15 weeks pregnant with twins
The Pregnancy of Twins Pregnancy of Twins When it comes to multiple pregnancy, twins are by far the most common. About 90% consists of twins, with the remaining 10% being triplets, quadruples, quintuplets and so on. Even if the twins don't run in their family, they could still have them; no fertile woman is immune. It is estimated that up to 5 per cent of all pregnancies involve a twin at 12 weeks of gestation, but unfortunately not all of these advances to term. It is important to remember that every pregnant mother is unique. Your experience of having a twin pregnancy can be very different from that of another woman – there is no consistent set of experiences. Even when a woman has had a twin pregnancy before, the next may be very different. Although something everyone will share is a sense of anticipation and perhaps some care for themselves and their twins. Common twin pregnancy symptoms How different is a twin pregnancy? A twin pregnancy can be very different from a pregnancy that involves only a baby. Each symptom of pregnancy can be exacerbated, each twin and niggle were folded and the probability of complications also increased. But just because you're wearing two babies doesn't mean you'll automatically have problems – many twin mothers have a fabulous pregnancy and say they really enjoyed it. Although it means that you, your pregnancy and the growth of your babies will be carefully monitored by your health professionals. Until you have an ultrasound, you may not know if you are pregnant with monozygotic (identical) twins or dizygotic (non-identical) twins, although this should not really make a difference with the symptoms of pregnancy. But it can influence the risks of twin pregnancy complications. One of the factors that increase the chance of conceiving with twins is to increase the maternal age. For older mothers who have other children, then their experience of a twin pregnancy can be very different from a mother who is younger and pregnant for the first time. Fatigue and fatigue can cover everything during any pregnancy, but this is especially the case when a mother has two babies. Being able to lie down and rest can simply not be an option when there are other young children in the home to care for. Twin Pregnancy Complications The risks to pregnant mothers and their babies are much higher with twin pregnancies than monotonals. These risks tend to increase with each week of gestation while babies grow more and the mother's body is in line with the requirements of a double pregnancy. Extra care during twin pregnancy You will probably find that you have more ultrasounds and checkups during your twin pregnancy than if you had a baby. Fetal screening at 18 weeks will be more exhaustive and time-consuming, especially if babies are not cooperating when they lie down in the best positions to be able to see them clearly. You may also have to have Doppler studies to examine blood flow through each of the baby's umbilical cords. The amniotic fluid volume will also need to be monitored, as this is a way to ensure that the baby kidneys are working effectively. Twins usually grow at the same rate as single-ton babies until they are between 32 and 35 weeks. After this stage of gestation, space becomes a real problem and there is simply no room for them to grow at the same speed. At this stage, pregnant twin mothers can begin to feel very uncomfortable and feel as if they could not move as easily as they would like. Stretching marks are also common in the third trimester when collagen fibers in the tear of the skin because they can no longer stretch. You may find that you are confined to bed at home or admitted to the hospital to monitor. This is a way of controlling blood pressure regularly and also reducing the risk of premature birth. If you are a negative blood group, you may need to have prophylactic anti-D during your seconds and three quarters in about 28 and 34 weeks. Be guided by your obstetrician on this; there is no consistent approach that applies to all mothers. If you are at risk of entering premature work, you may have at least one dose of corticosteroids. These help mature the baby's lungs so they are less likely to need breathing support when they are born. What can I do during my twin pregnancy? Due to increased obstetric risks during a twin pregnancy, it is easy for mothers to feel ignored. The focus of obstetric personnel may be as focused on pregnancy and twins that you might feel as a person is becoming unnoticed. And although health professionals mostly try to really hard not to do this, it can still happen. That's why it's so important that all pregnant mothers take a stand for themselves and have an opinion in their care.
